One dark stormy day, Resarki closed up his blacksmith shop in Tyro. As he put up the sign saying it was closed, he saw two shady figures. He could smell the Whiskey on them. 'What is it what you two want? Resarki is closing shop.' He said. 'Y'think ye can clos' te shop on us?' One of them, a disgusting human with a wet stingy beard said. 'We be the bravest warriors in the land!' The other, a bald ugly man with one eye said, and threw his head back laughing.' 'Resarki refuses to deal with you drunks. Now leave, before you cause trouble.' He said, and stepped out. 'We causin' trouble....?' Ugly beard said. 'Well, we shure wouldn' want dat....' No eye said, and pulled out a broken Whiskey bottle. Resarki looked at that, and his Ophian eyes filled with fear. 'Resarki will report the guards on you! Leave me be!' He shouted, voice quivering. 'Oh...we wouldn want dat....' No Eye said. Ugly beard grabbed Resarki from the back and put his hand over his mouth. One Eye shoved the Whiskey bottle into Resarki, missing his stomach by a mere inch.
Resarki fell, bleeding. Blood was all over his clothes. The two men laughed and ran away. Rain started to fall. Resarki's eyes watered in pain. He dragged himself over to his shop and waited it to be over. Nobody would find him in this time of night. He resigned himself to die. Suddenly, he saw a shady figure in the rain. Summoning the last of his strength, he shouted 'HELP! I've been Injured!' The shady figure ran towards him, as Resarki's vision went blurry. (Anybody can be the shady figure. Just improvise a bit, as in 'So and so was walking when he heard someone cry....' And so on_.)

Rain...rain...rain... why are the gods always crying? A figure covered in Ophian robes wandered aimlessly through the rain. As the figure moved, occasionally she would bump into the walls. A cough came from her as she crouched down by some bushes. Pain was in her chest, undoubtedly from the rainy weather.
Yet, as she remained low, a sound caught he attention. The sound of yelling, some sort of fight. "We shouldn't try to see w'at the problem is..." she uttered to herself as she slowly stood, moving towards the corner of a building to glance down it to avoid being seen. "But there be a yellin' and a screamin'... could be the Shadowlin's killin' a man... they like to do that..." Her voice was ever softer as she seemed to be talking to herself. "Couldn't be dangerous. Best watch and wait..." "Lyna, it could be nothin'... the screamin' could be someone playin' a game." "In the middle of a rainy night?" The woman seemed to be glancing around as if there were other people. There wasn't. It was only her, speaking to herself as if their were more then one person.
Then, running. The woman was a hunter of sorts, the sound of running wasn't hard with the splashing of water do to puddles formed by the rain. Quietly, the woman moved forward, mask covered face moving as she remained lower and careful.
Then, she saw a figure laying in the ground. Yep... defiantly shadowlings... they like to leave people in the mud... It's speaks?! The woman heard the yell and sprinted forward to the being, seeing his wounds. They looked severe. However, it had missed the vital stomach as she looked at it. She was no healer, but she could stop the bleeding. His cloths would do.
The woman pulled off the man's shirt and began wrapping it across his chest, hoping to slow some bleeding. The woman's eyes went to the Ophian for a moment. As she stared her throat had a knot in it. She swallowed hard. "Scale-brother?" she uttered as if it made sense in her mind. "Hey, Lyna, it is a scale-brother!" "Ophian." she said to herself as if to correct the claim. After having covered the wound to slow the bleeding, the woman moved to lift him. The guards! They would surely know what to do!
"Halt!" The plan worked right! They were---wait they had their swords drawn. "What are you doing!" "The Shadowlin's attacked him! I saw he was alive... I was goin' to you." "Shadowlings?" "He hurt bad. You here now, I go." "No no no, you're coming with." "But the Shadowlin's are around... not safe... I need to run." The guard grabbed her wrist as another grabbed the injured Ophian. They were going to be taken to the barracks. The Ophian could be treated there, while the woman could be put into a holding area until the man recovers.

Resarki then saw the figure run towards him. He tried to tell her his condition, but he couldn't. The girls face was wrapped up in shrouds. Resarki was half terrified, half relieved. The girl immediately began to work, ripping at some of his sleeve and using it on his wound, with the skill of the healer. She seemed to be muttering something about the Shadowlings killing people as she worked. Just as Resarki was about to ask her what the Shadowlings were, she looked at him and said 'Scale-brother?' Softly. Resarki replied,'I do not know what you speak of....' But the girl seemed to take no notice, and continued to mumble to herself. Then, he saw two guards coming towards him. "Halt!" The guards had their swords drawn. "What are you doing!" "The Shadowlin's attacked him! I saw he was alive... I was goin' to you." "Shadowlings?" "He hurt bad. You here now, I go." "No no no, you're coming with." "But the Shadowlin's are around... not safe... I need to run." The guards took no notice, as they grabbed the woman's wrist, and they hauled Resarki up. But that was a bad choice, as his makeshift bandage fell off and more blood spilled down, easily spilling off his repltilian skin. 'This one's a goner if we move him.' One of the guards said, hauling him back down. 'What do we do to the girl?' The other said. 'Leave her be, she is doing no harm. Just go get a medic or healer.' The other guard said, trying to get Resarki in a position that would not harm him any longer.
Resarki turned to the girl that had momentarily stopped his bleeding. 'Who...who are you....? What is a Scale-Brother....?'

"Scale-brother hurt... noise... so much noise. Yells and shouts." muttered the woman as the other guard released her and made her sit on a rock nearby. "Stay put." the guard commanded before running to find a medic or healer to help treat the injured Ophian.
The woman sat on the rock nearby, her eyes watching the injured man as well as the guard that was by him. As she watched, it seemed that she was muttering still to herself.
When he uttered the words to her the woman's head tilted to the side as she was rocking back and forth. Her eyes seemed to move about, not focusing on anything as she rubbed her covered arms. "Scale-brother... you are not well adorn... You have no Favoured marks. No marks... no marks... for Humans it means nothin'... for Syccan it means nothin'... for Thaga... it means nothin'... For scale-brother and scale-sisters... it means everythin' Scale-favoured-Lord and Lordess... they wear favoured markin's... they are favoured. You---you are Scale-brother... you have no markin's of the Favoured." Her voice was fast and seemed to be shaky as she spoke. It hinted to the fact she seemed to have a lose grip on the world.
The fact she was wearing Ophian clothing might have seemed strange. Yet, the clothing was that belonging to a monk or priestess of some sort. She referred to him as a Scale-brother for perhaps a different reason, but it seemed unclear as she spoke rather unclearly. "I don't think you are get much out of her." said the guard that remained as he tried to help the Ophian as best he could. "She doesn't seem to have all the hens in the coop."
"We have no name... we have not earned namin'... We called name but---" The woman's voice seemed to temper off as she seemed distracted by something. Her Ophian clothing seemed only to reinforce the questions which even the guard was wondering. "...Will... Scale-brother live?" inquired the woman after a moment.

Resarki, still injured while the other guard went to find a medic, listened to his savior ramble on. He heard something about a favored mark. He was becoming a bit unsettled. He tried to move, but instead cried out in pain. The other guard whirled around and said,'Is the Medic here yet?! We're gonna lose him!' The other guard came running with a middle aged man. 'Okay, please tell me your condition, Ophian.' 'Resarki.....Resarki was closing up shop. Two drunks...two drunks attacked me...with a drinking bottle....it was jagged...' He could barely bring the words out. He knew what the girl was talking about. About being favored. Despite being one of his masters best, he never found a good relationship with him. He was only there as a pawn, and for his master to boast,'I have the finest Blacksmith in the land, working for me!' This was very far from the truth, But Resarki would keep his head down and keep working. He never earned a favored mark, and for that, he always regarded himself as a failure. He turned to the girl. 'My name...is Resarki. It is true, I have no favored mark...I am but a humble Blacksmith...'He could barely have a grasp on his words, as the Medic sedated him. It seemed to disturb the girl.

"What is he talking about?" Asked the guard that had returned with a healer. As the healer went to work, the other guard simply shrugged. The whole Favoured thing was something that most outsiders didn't understand, or at least understood the bare basics of it. Mostly scholars and other beings would have actually studied the idea in depth.
As the woman watched, she seemed to be slightly distracted by some thing that was in the corner of her vision. As it moved, her eyes seemed to follow it. Scale-brother... what a shame...get back to work. Another shadow moved near the fallen Ophian. Eh... I guess someone should deal with it... Girl, throw him into the river.
"He's not dead." muttered the woman as she seemed to be looking throw all the people, not truly gasping that they are real. The shadowy figures moved about.
He is... Hurry up... worthless... do something useful...What's wrong with you?!!
"Make it quiet..." Muttered the woman as the healer glanced from his work on the injured Ophian.
"Perhaps we should have brought two healers." he uttered before returning to his work. With the Ophian sedated, they could move hims to a place that wasn't rainy and muddy. "We need to get him out of the rain." The men began to move the fallen Ophian.
The woman's eyes were staring upwards as she still was muttering nonsensical worlds that were fragment. As she stared upward, one of the guards grabbed her wrist again. "Come on. You were the first here... you can tell what you saw." The guard seemed to be a bit unfeeling as he followed the healer to a place which was at least dry The wound was bad enough, and rain was of little aid in healing.
((Time skip where Resarki comes too?))

The last thing Resarki remembered before being sedated was that the girl understood nothing, or at least appeared not to, and they thought he was dead. * * * * * * * * He woke up later at an infirmary. He felt much better, and he saw a doctor come towards him. 'How are you feeling?' The Doctor asked, as he gave him a bowl of soup. Resarki took the bowl. 'Resarki is feeling much better. Thank you. How much do I owe you?' The Doctor replied, '30 Crown.' Resarki felt for his wallet, and then he found it. He deposited a handful of coins into the Doctor's hand. 'Is this enough?' The Doctor counted and said, 'Yes, that is all. You may leave whenever you are ready.' Resarki said thank you, and drank his soup. But then he remembered. 'Excuse me, Doctor?' He called. The Doctor looked at him. 'Yes, Sir?' 'What happened to the girl?' 'Her..? Oh yes, she's waiting outside. Been there all night. Said something about being with her Scale-brother.' Without waiting, Resarki ran outside, and saw her next to the corner. Resarki approached her. 'Hello, girl. Thank you for saving me. My name is Resarki. What about yours?'

The woman was crouched oddly on a bench that was outside. Instead of sitting on the wood, she was crouching on it, her feet balancing on the wood surface as she seemed to be staring blindly into the distance. As the man approached, her eyes didn't seem to move from the spot she was staring at.
Be quiet... Stop it... Father... Father... Where are you? Help me... someone help me! Let me out. Quiet... Be quiet.
The thoughts were loud as her hand remained over ears as she seemed to rock on the pads of her feet. As she did so, it seemed to get louder causing her to tense up in pain as she tried to make the voices silent. "Father... father... father..." she uttered softly to herself before suddenly hearing a loud voice. It wasn't loud per say, it felt loud. She suddenly shifted as if startled by the Ophian.
"Resarki... heard your name last night... You were bleedin'... hurt..." She seemed a bit edgy as well as jumpy. "Up and about... Good... Bad if you were not found... Shadowin' get you for sure." she muttered before beginning to scratch her covered arms. As she did so, it seemed rather strange as her masked face tilted to him. There was barely any skin showing from her. The only bit that could be seen was the flesh around her eye--- her eyes were two different colors!
"Good to see you movin'... My work done... I should go... should go... go... yes..." her eyes seemed to look away from the ophian, her head and body shaking a bit as she gave a slight cough, all the while scratching her shoulder. She looked uncomfortable, or at least nervous about something. She still hadn't told anyone her name as she rocked back and forth.
"Yes... I go now..." The woman suddenly moved forward. It almost seemed like she didn't even recognize that Resarki was there. "...Go... yes... I go...."
Go where? We want to get out! Please let me out! Home.... yes... home... Where's home? Home...home...home...
The woman stopped in mid-step before wrapping her arms around her tightly. Her mind was lost to the sea of the same word. Home. As she seemed to be frozen in spot, the healer shook his head slightly.
The Doctor simply watched as the Ophian tried to thank the woman. There wasn't anything he could do. Such medicine for such a condition was unknown or at the very least hard to come by. Likely this woman would be like that for the rest of her life.
It was a bit of a sad perspective. The woman's eyes returned to Resarki. "Resarki, scale-brother?" she uttered as if it made sense. More likely she was saying it to drown out the noise in her head. "Brothers who worked hard for Favoured born... Serve with loyalty and distinction. Work and work... she's too weak... not suitable... You understand?"

Resarki went up to the girl and started to say, 'Thank y-' But he tapered off, because it was obvious she wasn't listening. She was just mumbling off, like last time. She also seemed to be itching at her mark. Another thing which disturbed Resarki was that she had two different eyes, and by what flesh he could see, she wasn't Ophian. Maybe Thaga? 'Listen, I can tell you are not Ophian. Why did you help Resarki? How do you know about the favored mark?' The girl made some notion as she was about to speak, and immediately Resarki thought he might have made a breakthrough. He looked at the doctor. 'Doctor, excuse me for sounding rude, but Resarki is giving you 5 crowns. Please get something for the girl to eat.' The Doctor understood, took the money and ran to the pub. Resarki, guiding her by the hand made her sit on the bench. He wasn't sure if anybody had shown her this much kindness, as she was reacting differently. Looking her in the eyes, he said 'Resarki wishes for you to stop talking for a moment.' To his suprise, the girl obeyed. He said very softly, 'What is your name?'

The woman's eyes were wide as she seemed to be uncomfortable still. Even with the kind gesture see seemed to be rather shaky. It was something seemed to be unavoidable. As such, her eyes flickered over to the man for a moment as he saw his generousness by offering food as well as kindness.
As he spoke, her eyes were locked on his, unblinking and unmoving as she seemed to stiffen for a moment.
Lyna... Lyna... Enyo... Nidaba.... Nidaba... Lyna! LYNA!
Hush... It's ok...
The girls eyes shifted as she seemed to be searching his eyes for a moment. "Irist? She gave me name..." Replied the woman as her eyes seemed to be focused on the Ophian.
"We---I---I--I grew up in quiet place... Scale-brothers and Scale-sisters were always nice to me... Favoured were harsh. They no know what to do with me..." the woman cleared her throat seemingly trying to keep herself from losing her focus. It was difficult, it was greatly taxing as her hands went over her ears. At least where they would be if they were not covered by black fabric.
"I lived with them! With--WITH Your people... They let me stay... Do this girl... do that girl... They didn't give me a name..." Her eyes closed as she could hear the noise grow louder and louder in her head. Her voice was nearly shouting as she tried desperately to communicate to the being.
"Father took me in... He didn't leave a miserable child on the steps! He gave me cloths and place of--of safety! Then---Then... uuurrgg" The woman's head was spinning as she was unable to keep herself still any longer. She shifted her legs as if it would help her.
"Irist named me... she named me... Called me Isako... I-I have been named many things... Many things... Oh... Please make it be quiet. They won't stop talking!"

As soon as the girl started shouting, Resarki knew something was wrong. Again, he tried calming her down. 'Isako? What a nice name.' He said, but he could see she wasn't going to calm down.
By now her shouting had attracted a crowd. 'Get away! Nothing to see here!' Resarki said, waving them off. Soon, the doctor re-arrived with an apple and a glass of water.
'Here, drink this..(Thank you Doctor), and please calm down.' Resarki said, trying to calm her down. 'There is no one here but you and me. Please calm down.' He said, trying to comfort her.
'It is true, favored ones never liked Resarki nor you, Isako....always come here girl or boy, right? But that does not change our names. You are still Isako, I am still Resarki.' He said, patting her back.
'Isako...there is no one here but you and me. Do you understand? You are just imagining. Only you and me are talking.' He said, still trying to comfort her. A brief silence followed, in which he decided to listen to Isako.

Isako seemed to be shaking. Her eyes seemed to be following something that was moving in her vision. Then, as people seemed to investigate, the woman started to whimper and wrap her arms around her tighter then before. Their eyes were blank to her, whispering and pointing.
She could only stare at them as Resarki seemed to gesture for them to leave and disperse. As they did, her eyes seemed to be wide as she saw the shadowy figures that she had talked about before. Her eyes showed fear as her hands went to her ears once more.
Screaming... moaning... its too loud... quiet... Quiet we have to be quiet... They'll come... They'll--- Oh... they are close... they hear us.. No... I DON'T WANT TO DIE!
Her eyes saw the water that was handed to her. However, she didn't act quite as expected. As she held the water, she suddenly thrashed with the cup, sending the water at the Ophian.
"Don't like water... they hate water..." she muttered as she seemed to be all the more jumpy and scared. The crowd must have set her off. Their staring and talking must have bothered her.
"Why... Why are you here?" uttered the woman as she still was rocking back and forth. "I-I don't want to talk about it...The shadowlin's they'll come here... souless eyes... they'll kill us... kill all of us... no place safe...Only runnin' only runnin'..." Her eyes seemed to flash with anger for a moment as she glanced to the Ophian.
"Leave me be... you don't understand... no one understands... they just ask cause they are curious, they don't care... the want what I can offer them... nothin' more. No more words... no more false-faces..." she closed her eyes as if to block out the sight as well as had her hands over her ears to block out the noise. Her angry gasps of air however hinted that it was of not help to block out the things that were in her mind.

Resarki jumped backwards, giving out a loud Haaaark! as the water splashed on him. He never liked water. In fact, he'd only take a bath in it and drink it, as quick as possible. He tried wiping it off of his face.
He could see, despite all of his attempts that he still hadn't made a breakthrough, only that they knew each others names. He could see the girl shaking. 'It is okay, Resarki forgives you for drenching him.' He said, hoping to cheer up the girl. No response.
'Here, Resarki thinks you are Hungry...' He said, taking out the apple and giving it to the girl. 'Eat it, it's good.' He said, taking her by the hand. She just stared at it, as if disbelieving something so innocent was meant for her.
He sighed. Resarki could see he had to do something drastic to gain her trust. He gently took her hand, and stared in her eyes. 'Isako?' He said gently. 'Is Resarki your friend?'
