((This is an open RP; anyone can join if they want.))
Tyro Village was a spot normally reserved for the newcomers. Many people came and went from it. This was primarily due in part by the census that the government had asked for. Still, most people left the small village for the hopes of adventure or wealth in the other cities of Talarra.
This place however, was rather peaceful. Out of the way and relatively quiet. When people arrived in the city, it was merely for a few days. It was usually in waves, times which people could spare the trip to Tyro. It was a simple fact that Isako liked about the village. Most people would leave in a few days and adventure away. It was also small, scarcely populated.
"At least here... it is safe... quiet..." The human at the counter turned as he saw her sitting in the corner. "Sorry, did you want something?" Apparently she spoke under her breath. It wasn't intentional as she simply shook her head as she rubbed her shoulder once more.
"Cider... hard." she replied before looking through her money pouch. There were a few coins, enough to meet the price as she laid them out for it.
"Hard Cider? Rough day, lass?" asked the bartender as he poured a cup for her. The woman was silent at this as he slid the cup to her. "Not that I blame you, with all the people here, lot less work to go around."
"Not that..." replied the woman as she lifted her mask only enough to allow her lips to taste the cider. She could taste the distinct apple-like flavor. Yet, there was a bit sweeter than most drinks. Must have been simply the way that it was made. Still, she drank with little protest as the barkeeper noted her lacking of trying to get into a full conversation. She was rather covered which hinted to him that she wasn't a rather open type.
The woman simply refused to take off the mask, as if there was something shameful to hide. Then again, perhaps she was hiding from something? As the woman drank she simply put out a few more coins, a silent order for some more Hard Cider.
...Helps keep all of them quiet... makes me sleepy... but... its quieter... Mister human even quieted... At least there is lights... Shadowlings wouldn't hesitate if their wasn't light... they hate light... they hate water... Isako... Go away... Leave me alone...
The woman drank quietly as she kept her head down low, trying to remain out of other people's sight...

((so she's a half breed? I like how you threw a spin on it and added insanity in addition to genetic degradation.

((Aye, I've played an insane character once before. I figured that it is a less used character trait, so why not? It is always fun to add a new dynamic when RPing. The last time I played an insane character, I found it to be really fun. She was evil and insane, but also manipulative. Always fun to try something new in RPing.))

Zinone pushed open the doors to the Tavern and walked in, tired from the days journey. he walked straight up to the counter and waited behind a person whispering under their breath. "Umm, Excuse me." He said after standing there for a while.

The woman had emptied her first glass and was working on her second as she remained sitting in her own little corner of the area. She hadn't stopped drinking as she remained to herself. Yet as she remained looking down, she felt some affect of the drink on her. A bit less noisy, at least it was drowned out by a slight tinge in her mind.
She was sitting in one of the spots, muttering rather quietly to herself. The bartender figured she was just focused on something else as she seemed to make no inclinations towards him. Still, she was muttering just loud enough to be noticed but not loud enough to really understand.
Her eyes glanced to the side, noticing that someone had spoken up. One eye was blue while the other was silver. Her mask had been re-situated on her face as she stared at the man who had spoken. As she looked him up and down, her eyes seemed to be shifting from place to place rather rapidly. Her movement was even a bit jumpy as she looked at him.
"You... You... Talkin' to me?" The mask showed none of her expression as her eyes seemed to look at him. "You... you are different. Look... feel..." Her robes suggested she was of Ophian roots. But clearly her flesh around her eyes suggested otherwise.
She took a step away, looking back down as if not trying to make any eye contact with him. "No trouble... I go." The woman turned. Even though it seemed like she was leaving, she stopped at the door and simply sat against the door-frame, on the grass.
"Quiet... yes... sounds quieter... At least it is sunny... no evil... no scary ones... Mustn't think about it... We shouldn't think about it..." the woman was still talking under her breath as she held her knees. There wasn't the sounds that haunted her, only fear that seemed to be deeply rooted. There was hardly a thing she could do about it as she simply sat against the door-frame that lead let to the tavern.
"Sorry sir... what will you be having?" asked the barkeeper as he was distracted for a moment after watching the paying customer leave to sit on the ground outside the bar. "Don't mind her, harmless... now, what you want?"

"An ale please." He said as he passed the money across the counter. "An who's that woman muttering to herself?" the bartender passed the drink across the counter, he downed the lot and asked for another " Talking to herself about 'scary ones' 'evil ones' whats it all about?"

"What her?" replied the barkeeper as he grabbed the money. He than grabbed a mug to pour some ale for the Syccan. As he did he simply shrugged.
"Dunno much about her. She's hanged around Tyro for a while now, seen her wandering the streets... then standing next to the torches in the night. Otherwise, don't really know her story... she comes in to drink sometimes. Each time, the lass keeps muttering to herself about something." replied the bartender after passing the mug to the man.
"Hey, lass." called the bartender. Her eyes looked over, hearing the noise from inside that seemed directed towards her. "Come back in, you can sit somewhere more comfortable the on the ground outside."
The woman stared for a moment before wandering back inside as she went to sit at one of the stools that were closer to the bartender. She placed another few coins as he poured her some more Hard Cider. "The Mister here has a few questions for you, lass, would you oblige him?"
The masked woman turned her head towards the Syccan. "What?" she said in a way that seemed as if she were a bit calmer than she was upon the man's entry to the bar. The Hard Cider had a bit more time to get into her system and she seemed to be calmed by it.

As talyn limped into the bar, several fresh wounds still paining him, he stumbled up to the bar and waited calmly for the bartender. He observed the two people across from him, one obviously syycan, the other was wrapped head to toe in ophian robes. A friend of Ts'ala? Either way he didn't feel like bothering them, and when the barman turned to him, he asked for hard whisky and some mead.

A man walked in wounded from something and limped towards the bar and sat down. "hard whisky and some mead please" he said. that was none of Zinones business though. He turned to the girl wrapped in robes and wondered where to start.
"my name is Zinone, and im the cousin of Merrian." he said politely. when she didnt answer he decided to ask her something.
"so i have been here for only a short while, and i have heard you muttering under your breath. Please tel me whats bothering you." he said. "i Might be able to help you." then he waited for her to reply

"Help me?" replied the woman before turning away. Her eyes caught movement not to far from her, but she quickly returned her attention to the Syccan that was speaking.
"No, no... many people offer help... they are all the same. No help." Replied the woman before finishing her Hard Cider. She closed her eyes for a moment before scratching her shoulder.
"No help. You want to know 'bout the Shadowlin's? It bothers me... They don't like water, and they don't appear in the light. Live in darkness... Shadowlin's are always watchin'... They want to do bad things." The woman's eyes looked away as she simply stared at the empty mug.
"Talkin'... talkin'... always talkin'. Whispers... screams... Loud and---" The woman's head when to her hand as she tried to focus somehow. It was a vain attempt but her head felt like there was a massive weight on it. "You think I'm mad... they all think I'm mad... Everyone laughs... see if they laugh when village burns to the ground..." Her voice was icy and seemed to have some degree of hostility in it as she laid her head down against the table.

"i don't think your mad" Said Zinone trying to comfort the woman. "i just didnt know what was happening" He looked into the distance where the girl had looked but didn't see anything, just normal Tyro.
But he could see why the girl was getting jumpy and paranoid. If these "shadowlings" didnt come out in the light and only in the dark then there would be a problem soon. The sun was creeping over the horizon and making the clouds go all shades of purple, red and orange. But all that nice picturesque sunset could do was make him think of the hardships that the girl would go through if the shadowlings came.
"What will the shadowlings do if they come, will they kill, burn, torment, torture? what will they do?" he hung his head, if only he could do something to calm this girl and help her fight these shadowlings. but what could he do if she just dismissed all his efforts? he played with the knots of the bindings on his armor, when he had a brilliant idea. Why couldn't they tie up one of these shadowlings and question it? He wondered if he should ask the girl?

As Talyn poured the whiskey on his cuts, he stiffled several groans and downed half the mead. He perked up when he heard mention of merrian, he waited for a break in the conversation, limped up and asked, "two things, for one, I'd like to know how that old merrian bastard is, and second if you'll pardon my prodding, *turns to girl* I think you are a half breed." He took another sip from the mead then shook his head and instead drank the whiskey.

"Don't think I'm mad?" She uttered as if there was a question. It almost seemed that she didn't understand the word that he used. However she shook her head.
"You say this but you are wrong... others said this... others said this... and they say, "Isako is crazy", "Isako there's nothin' there", they don't understand... They aren't here... and they are here." She sighed angrily as she continued shaking her head. Isako was a Syccan oriented name, Zinone most likely knew that.
Before she said something her head suddenly shifted to the other man speaking. Her entire demenor seemed to change as she stood suddenly. "What of it?! Are you going to use us too?" It seemed like irrational anger as she seemed to be staring at him. How he saw that she was a half-breed was most likely do to her eyes. The whites were black but she still had the colored iris.
"We... We just want it to go away... The Shadowlin's... the screamin'... the dyin'... Fasska was destroyed by the evil that looks to consume..." She back off from both of them. Some other patrons were staring as well, a but disturbed by the woman's yelling. As she backed up, her hands went to her chest as fear was obviously in her eyes.
"The kill everyone they see... They burn everythin' they touch... They plot, they plan, they wait... they never go away!" The barkeeper was already out from behind the booth trying to keep her calm as he offered her water. Instantly, she poured the water around her in a circle as she curled within the circle she had made.

Talyn was slightly shocked at this outburst, but calmly replied. "because I know what you run from, most ignore them, I knew a halfbreed once. Killed by shadowlings." turning to the other man he said " if you know what's good for you, you'll leave, trust me. This is one war you DON'T want to fight" turning back to the young women he calmly continued. "I'm Talyn, and I fight against the shadows. Only reason they hide is because they are cowards, and they are afraid of what your kind can do. Though your lives are usually short, you can achieve the impossible, as a wise man once told me, 'a flame that burns twice as bright burns out twice as fast'. Here, you don't need to be afraid, I watch the night, you can rest easy halfbreed." he took another gulp of whiskey and replaced his bandages.

Zinone listened quietly to the conversation that was going on between the halfbreed and Talyn, Merrian's friend. He wanted to comfort the girl but he didn't know what to say. And if Talyn knew about these shadowlings then she definitely wasn't mad.
"Merrian is good, as far as i know, but we can talk later about friends and happy things." If Talyn was risking his life in a battle, and he was a friend of Merrian's, then he would risk his life as well. And if Talyn was going to protect the girl then so would Zinone.
"Talyn" he addressed the wounded man. "if you are a friend then i will stay, like any friend would."
