It's been a while since I've been living on my own, and all I can say is that it has not been easy. When I was a child, all I cared about was reading books, gaining knowledge and being what my father expected of me- part of the Elder Council. My parents banished me from my home in Viventor when they found out I loved a human. When I returned there today, I went to my old home and saw that it was empty. I have no idea what happened to them, nor do I care. They were my parents and they should have loved me no matter what I did or who I loved. I was never close to them, and I never got the chance to learn more about my heritage. All I know is I belong to house Dessan, and Erenia and I are one of the few left. I don't know what she thinks about me and my somewhat disastrous love affair with a human. I do know she doesn’t like them, but I don’t know what she thinks about him in particular…
It is quite embarrassing for me to admit that I have a soft spot for this human. But he's so kind and righteous. And he has this infatuation (I don’t want to believe he loves her) for that woman. I don’t understand why he would want to be with a boring little woman who does nothing but whine about her past. For now, I have to be content to have him as a friend. I don't even know her, but from what I've heard she has a lot of influence and power over him and other humans.
I have met my fair share of humans, and I can say that they are a strange kind of people. I definitely don't want them ruling Talarra, but then again, that is not for a young inexperienced Syccan like me to decide. As far as I have read, Talarra belonged to us Syccans in the first place, so I guess it would be right for a Syccan to rule again.
Some men have been helpful, but that's probably because I also treat them nicely. I have to, being all alone. I met a Thaga named Khargul as well, and I like him better than most humans. I wonder what my parents would think if they knew I respected- and even liked a Thaga.
For now, all I want is a new home. I want to build it from scratch, and make it as glorious as the home I lived in at Viventor. Just like a home for a member of house Dessan should be. I don't like the homes humans have built in their little towns. They are small and feel very crowded. I miss the waterfalls in Viventor, the gardens and the libraries. Oh, the libraries. I have yet to find such libraries in any other place around Talarra. I would ask Erenia to let me rent a home there for cheap, but I must save money for my new home.
That is all for now. Hopefully I'll find time to write again between all this mining and gathering resources for my house.
